3. Is your office wheelchair accessible?
Yes, our office is fully wheelchair accessible. We have designated accessible parking spaces, a wheelchair-accessible elevator, and accessible restrooms for both men and women. Please note that we currently do not have family or gender-neutral restroom facilities.
4. Do you work with LGBTQ+ individuals and families?
Absolutely. Sandstone Counseling proudly offers LGBTQ+ affirmation therapy. We're committed to providing supportive, inclusive care for LGBTQ+ individuals and their family members as they navigate their unique journeys. Our therapists are trained in culturally competent care and create safe, welcoming spaces for all clients.
5. Can you prescribe medication or provide psychiatric services?
No, Sandstone Counseling does not offer psychiatric services, prescribe medications, or conduct diagnostic testing. However, we maintain relationships with trusted local psychiatrists and medical professionals and can provide referrals when medication evaluation or other medical services might be beneficial as part of your overall care plan.
6. What do I need to do before my first appointment?
Before your first session, you'll need to complete our intake paperwork. These forms can be accessed directly through our website or we can email them to you. We're committed to being environmentally conscious, so we strive to keep all documents electronic whenever possible. Completing your paperwork in advance helps us make the most of your first session together.
7. How do you protect my privacy and personal information?
We take your privacy seriously. Sandstone Counseling uses TherapyNotes, an electronic healthcare records system that is fully HIPAA compliant, secure, and meets all cybersecurity standards required by law. Your personal health information is protected with the highest level of security and confidentiality.
8. What types of counselors work at Sandstone Counseling?
Our team includes licensed professionals with various specializations: Licensed Professional Counselors (LPC), Licensed Social Workers (LSW), Licensed Professional Clinical Counselors (LPCC), Licensed Independent Social Workers (LISW), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists (LMFT), and Counselor Trainees (CT). All team members are trained in mental health therapy, and those requiring supervision under Ohio state law receive on-site supervision from our licensed clinicians.
9. Do you offer telehealth/virtual counseling sessions?
Yes, we do offer telehealth services, and our counselors are available to see clients virtually for ongoing sessions. However, there are a few important requirements: your initial intake session (first appointment) must be conducted in-person at our office, and you must be physically located within the state of Ohio during all telehealth sessions. Additionally, not all insurance plans cover telehealth services, so we recommend contacting your insurance provider to confirm coverage before scheduling virtual appointments.
10. How do I know if counseling is right for me, and how do I get started?
Counseling can be beneficial for anyone dealing with stress, life transitions, relationship challenges, anxiety, depression, trauma, or simply wanting to improve their overall well-being. You don't need to be in crisis to benefit from therapy – many people find counseling helpful for personal growth and developing better coping strategies.
Getting started is simple: reach out to us by phone or through our website to schedule an initial consultation. During this conversation, we can discuss your concerns, answer any questions you might have, and help match you with the right counselor for your specific needs. Remember, taking this step shows strength and self-care, not weakness.
