Our Story

The Story of Angela & Sandstone Counseling.

My journey started at a community agency in Ravenna, Ohio, where I learned quickly that this work requires patience, presence, and a genuine belief that people are capable of change. That stretch of years across different environments and populations taught me a lot about people, about the counseling process, and about the kind of practice I eventually wanted to build.

From there I moved to a community agency in Canton, then out to Fort Wayne, Indiana, where I worked in a residential treatment setting.

When I came back to Ohio, I shifted to private practice and never looked back. I grew up in the Massillon area, so returning to this part of the state always felt like coming home. Opening Sandstone Counseling in Green in 2025 was the realization of something I had been working toward for a long time — a place where clients feel genuinely supported and where counselors early in their careers have room to grow.

The name was chosen deliberately.

Sandstone is a rock formed from tiny grains of sand that, over time, are pressed together and bonded through natural minerals. Its name reflects both its origin — sand — and its strength — stone. It represents the transformation of something small and shifting into something solid and enduring.

That felt like exactly the right metaphor for what counseling actually is. I also love mentoring newer counselors who are finding their footing in this profession.

Life experiences — the painful ones, the confusing ones, even the meaningful ones — shape us. Over time, with the right support and reflection, those experiences can come together in ways that build real strength and resilience. Our approach at Sandstone has always been compassionate and empowering. We’re not here to fix you. We’re here to help you build a solid foundation so you can grow on your own terms.
