Megan Porter

Megan:

“I always strive to make clients feel heard, welcomed, and valued.”

Megan is a licensed professional counselor who works with individual adults of all ages. Her education includes a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from The University of Akron. Megan gained experience serving the Greater Akron community through The University of Akron’s on-site behavioral health clinic during her time as a graduate student, then followed this experience with counseling adults for varying mental health concerns in a private practice setting.

Megan’s primary interests include anxiety, depression, life transitions, stress management, self-esteem issues, career development, trauma, gerontological issues, and helping individuals to find meaning and purpose within their lives. Megan operates using an eclectic, integrative approach to counseling, which means that she utilizes elements of multiple evidence-based approaches in ways that align with client values, needs, and preferences. In particular, she relies heavily on person-centered counseling techniques, with elements of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and strengths-based counseling.

Megan is currently supervised by Angela Rodgers, LPCC-S
